Ellen and Ben met at the University of Notre Dame. Both of their families are huge fans of the Irish Catholic University. Their wedding reception was one of the largest “intimate” receptions I’ve ever done. Everyone in the group was so supportive of the bride and groom. A moment struck me during the reception that had me in awe. I don’t recall having a reception feel like it was its own community. There were so many memorable moments it is hard to pinpoint a favorite but they included: Ellen’s father sharing cute stories about her youth; Ben sharing a toast about his mother that had me in tears; Ellen joining the band to sing a CeeLo Green song and inviting her brother up to play drums, and the pie and ice cream station. Since the couple resides in Chicago, naturally, they had to have a Portillo’s Hot Dog stand complete with all the accompaniments. It was truly a unique, special event that fit the two of them so well.
