Alyssa & Richard wanted a wedding the Redwoods of California. Unfortunately, this area was out of their budget. I quickly recommended the Columbia River Gorge area as a destination wedding option. Nothing can compare to the Gorge’s views, tall pines, fresh woodsy sent. And only 40 minutes from Portland International Airport, It truly is a perfect destination wedding location.

After numerous site visits of various venues, they selected the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington for its beautiful grounds, ability to host an outdoor ceremony in a wooded area, well-appointed hotel rooms and amazing views.

The ceremony took place in a little wooded grove, so intimate and special. Alyssa and Richard had friends read prayers as part of the ceremony, it was such a special touch to incorporate couples they knew would support them in their upcoming marriage. The couple also spent a lot of their time rock climbing. They tied a special climbing knot together as their unity ceremony.

Guests enjoyed outdoor lawn games, a specialty with Washington and Oregon outdoor weddings, a popcorn bar (Alyssa’s favorite) and custom designed mini jar pies by a Washougal baker. As the sun went down, we were treated with a stunning view of the Columbia River and Gorge. What a magical day.
