The Night Before the Royal Wedding (Copy)

So, I totally have a ton of work to do, but I can’t concentrate. I am way too excited for the Royal Wedding tomorrow.  Ms. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting married!! Yes, I will be awake at 3:30am CST to watch the live coverage of the arrival of guests; Meghan riding with her mother to the chapel; the ceremony and the following parade. I can’t wait!!

I remember being a little girl and be woken up to watch Lady Diana Spencer marry Prince Charles.  It was probably my first wedding memory.  That moment minted itself in my heart and mind forever. Naturally, at the young age I had no idea of the concept that I would be lucky enough to watch her future children get married.  But, I did understand the magnificence of the movement.  That was THE moment for me when I realized that weddings were AMAZING! I wanted to be the princess who found her prince and was carried to the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage, with a train on my dress that never seemed to end.

Looking back, I think this was the beginning of my passion for weddings.  Shortly thereafter, I was a bride for Halloween (yes, I was that girl) and I proudly carried a little bouquet along side of my trick-or-treat bag.  When I was old enough to pay for my own copies of People magazine, I bought every copy that featured a wedding. I started hanging out at bookstores pouring through every wedding magazine I could find…too guilty to purchase them because I was a kid and nowhere near marrying age.   I became obsessed.

So, needless to say, I am very excited to see what happens tomorrow.  Seven years ago, when Prince William married Kathryn Middleton, I was up at 3:30am watching their wedding.  I remember watching Harry stand at the altar next to his brother.  As British wedding tradition goes, the groom faces away from the bride as she walks down the aisle.  Prince Harry turned around, looked over his shoulder and smiled.  He then leaned into his brother and whispered, “She’s beautiful.” That moment melted my heart. I remember thinking, I wonder if he will ever marry and who she will be.    My hope for tomorrow is he sneaks a peak at his own bride.  We shall see. Prior to Kathryn and William’s wedding, lace and sleeves had fallen out of fashion for many years. I knew that morning, when I saw Kathryn’s dress, that lace and sleeves were back.  And, seven years later we still see a lot of lace on gowns.

It will be exciting to see what happens with wedding dress fashion when Meghan steps out of the carriage for the first time and the world gets to see her dress.

The reports say her flowers are going to feature white peonies, foxglove and white peonies.  Flowers that many of my brides love and we use a lot in my weddings. It is delightful for Meghan to favor something so many of my American brides love.

Get ready, set your alarm clock (DVRs are for the faint of heart) wake yourself up, get your wedding cake ready (mine is ready to go), quiche and champagne. This is a moment to remember for a lifetime. Maybe I should wake up my sons so they can draw on this memory years from now…..

Enjoy!!!
